There are some paper collections that are simply beautiful…and then there are those that carry a deeper purpose.
Grace in the Gray is one of those collections.
As I was designing this kit, I kept thinking about how creativity has a way of meeting us exactly where we are. We don’t have to wait until life feels perfect to create something beautiful. Sometimes it’s during the difficult seasons—the gray moments—that we need creativity the most.
In my newest YouTube tutorial, I share how to create a handmade journal using the Grace in the Gray collection. While I designed this journal with these papers, the construction itself is wonderfully versatile and can be recreated with almost any paper collection you already have in your stash.
The journal features plenty of space for:
- Personal journaling
- Memory keeping
- Prayer or gratitude writing
- Favorite quotes and encouragement

One of my favorite things about junk journals is that they don’t have to be perfect. They become more meaningful with every handwritten note, tucked-away keepsake, and little imperfection that tells your story.
This collection was especially meaningful to create because it was inspired by conversations about the need for beautiful resources that acknowledge life’s harder moments while still offering hope. Drawing from my background in professional counseling, I wanted to design something gentle, encouraging, and comforting without feeling heavy. The result is a collection filled with soft vintage colors, meaningful sentiments, and quiet reminders that grace can be found even in uncertain seasons.
Whether you’re making this journal for yourself or creating it as a thoughtful gift for someone who could use a little encouragement, I hope this project reminds you that creativity can be both relaxing and restorative.
