Create a Refillable DIY Planner Journal with Removable Pages

One of my favorite things about paper crafting is creating projects that are both beautiful and practical, and this latest tutorial checks both boxes!

In this video, I share how I created a handmade My Garden Planner using the beautiful My Garden Planner kit from Tina at Making and Creating (Junk Journal Club). While the planner is designed with gardening in mind, the construction method can be used for almost any theme imaginable.

Whether you want to create a garden planner, recipe planner, faith journal, homeschool planner, wellness journal, travel planner, or memory keeper, this flexible design makes it easy to customize.

Why I Love This Binding Method

Instead of sewing signatures into the cover, I used a simple elastic binding system. The signatures are held securely in place, but they can also be removed whenever you want.

This means you can:

  • Add extra pages as needed
  • Rearrange sections and inserts
  • Remove completed pages
  • Replace worn pages
  • Customize the planner throughout the year
  • Reuse the cover again and again

For a planner, this flexibility is a game changer. As your needs change, your planner can change with you.

A Planner That Grows with You

The My Garden Planner kit includes wonderful pages for tracking plants, planning gardening tasks, recording notes, and organizing ideas. I also incorporated pockets and tuck spots for storing tags, notes, seed information, and other garden-related ephemera.

One of my favorite features is that nothing is permanent. If you decide you need more tracking pages, you can add them. If you want to reorganize your sections, you can. When the gardening season is over, you can simply remove the used pages and start fresh next year.

Not Just for Gardening

Although I used a garden-themed kit for this project, don’t let that limit your imagination. This same planner structure would work beautifully with:

  • Junk journal kits
  • Vintage ephemera collections
  • Recipe pages
  • Faith journals
  • Budget planners
  • Travel journals
  • Reading journals
  • Wellness trackers
  • Homeschool organizers

Once you learn the basic construction, the possibilities are endless.

In the video, I walk you through the entire process step-by-step so you can create your own removable-page planner. The project is beginner-friendly, requires no sewing, and can easily be adapted to suit your personal style.

If you’ve been looking for a planner that is both functional and customizable, I think you’re going to love this one.

Happy crafting,

Pam
