One of my favorite things about paper crafting is finding creative ways to use what I already have on hand. That’s exactly what inspired this week’s 15-Minute Scrap Challenge!
For this challenge, I grabbed a pile of scraps from my desk and gave myself just 15 minutes to see what I could create. No planning, no overthinking—just a timer, some paper scraps, and a little creativity.
The result? These adorable Tiny Matchbook Notepads!
Why I Love This Project

This project checks all the boxes for me:
- Uses up leftover scraps
- Quick and easy to make
- Great for beginners
- Perfect for junk journals
- Makes wonderful little gifts and tuck-ins
- Completely customizable
Every notepad ended up looking different because I simply used whatever scraps were within reach. Some featured vintage images, others had floral themes, and a few incorporated ribbons and embellishments that had been sitting on my desk waiting for a purpose.
A Great Scrap-Buster Project
If you’re anything like me, you probably have a growing collection of scraps that are too pretty to throw away but too small for larger projects.
Tiny matchbook notepads are a wonderful solution.
Even small pieces of patterned paper can become covers, while leftover ledger paper, copy paper, book pages, or notebook paper can be transformed into the notepad insert. Add a ribbon, a label, or a favorite image, and suddenly those scraps become something both beautiful and useful.
The Challenge
The goal wasn’t perfection.
The goal was simply to see what I could create in 15 minutes using what I already had available.
Sometimes the most fun projects happen when we stop worrying about making everything perfect and simply start creating.
That’s one of the reasons I enjoy these weekly challenges so much. They encourage me to experiment, use my stash, and discover new ideas that I might not have planned otherwise.
Watch the Tutorial
In this week’s video, I’ll show you exactly how I created these Tiny Matchbook Notepads and share a few ideas for decorating them with your own scraps.
If you have a pile of leftovers on your craft desk, I hope you’ll join me and give this project a try!
And if you do make some, I’d love to hear how many you can create in 15 minutes.
Happy crafting,
Pam
